WeLocale uses a small number of cookies and similar browser storage to keep the admin dashboard secure and to remember visitor language preferences in the widget.
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They help the site remember your session, protect against attacks, and understand how visitors use the site.
These cookies are required for the site to function. They cannot be disabled. No consent is needed to set these, but we disclose them here for transparency.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| %code _welocale_session | Authentication session - keeps you logged in | Session (browser close) or up to 2 weeks |
| %code _csrf_token | Cross-Site Request Forgery protection | Session |
| %code wl_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie consent choice (accept/decline) | 12 months (localStorage) |
WeLocale stores two values in your browser's localStorage that do not require consent under GDPR as they are strictly necessary for the interface to work:
Note for website owners using the WeLocale widget: The widget may store the visitor's selected language in localStorage on your website (not on welocale.com). This is covered by your website's own cookie/privacy policy. You should mention WeLocale as a sub-processor.
WeLocale does not currently use analytics cookies. If we introduce analytics in the future, we will update this policy and require your consent before setting any such cookies.
WeLocale does not use marketing or advertising cookies.
WeLocale does not embed third-party advertising or social media scripts that set cookies. Payment processing is handled by Stripe on their own domain - see
Stripe's Privacy Policy for details.Questions about cookies? Email us at hello@welocale.com
